Whether you are a cradle Catholic learning the Holy Bible or a Protestant convert divesting yourself of your Protestantism, this book on the Scriptures is for you. The only book of its kind from a traditional Catholic perspective, it cuts through the fluff and gets to the heart of the spiritual realities which are fundamental to all discussion on the Holy Bible. It also tells the story of how rejection of these spiritual realities has led directly to the current crisis in the Church. Part spiritual, part historical, part linguistic, this introduction provides the traditional Catholic with the tools to understand and profit from the Holy Scriptures. The book includes an original translation of St. Melito of Sardis, an annual reader based on the traditional office of Matins, as well as the foundational guide to Refute Protestants in Five Minutes.
This book is free for all patrons of the Apostolate in eBook form or print.

What version of the Bible do you recommend to go along with this book? I watched a recent video with Timothy Flanders and Taylor Marshall and they mentioned the Douay-Rheims and that it can be found on Baronius Press. But I thought they also said something about Challoner not being good and I saw that the Bible on the Baronius site has the Challoner revisions. I’m confused on which Bible to buy.
The Challoner revision is the Douay Rheims. It was a reivision completed in the 1700s of the original Douay Rheims since the English language had changed so much. Challoner Douay Rheims is the best Bible to buy, get that one. I cover some details in the book about some of the down sides of Challoner, but it is definitely better than the original Douay Rheims, and still the best English Bible for many reasons, in my opinion. My book has more detail on that. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your reply! This helps tremendously! (And I just ordered your book on Amazon.)
Thank You Timothy F. I put a copy in my Amazon cart, as soon as we get a bit-0-$, I look forward to reading your book. God Bless
Thanks Catsy! Let me know what you think.
This isn’t a reply, but a desperate attempt to discover what I need to do! I am converting to Catholicism
next weekend, receiving 5 sacraments. About 2-3 weeks ago, something changed. Something was pushing me to hurt myself.. My priest said evil spirits
sometimes appear when someone is about to revive sacraments, and told me the “bind the evil spirits” and pray a lot,, including Mother Mary.. what else can I do? I suddenly cry for no reason and feel like I’m losing it. The nightmares are terrible. I am a Sr. Citizen and am disabled. Medical procedures aren’t working which actually exacerbated the pain. What else can I do? I don’t want to ruin my joy next weekend ) or my husbands. Please help me!
Joni,
Don’t give up sister! This suffering has been allowed by God for your holiness. You need to embrace these difficulties as a participation in the passion of Jesus Christ. Read the Imitation of Christ and that will help: https://www.leaderu.com/cyber/books/imitation/imitation.html
Your suffering is not forever. God will only allow the amount that you can handle for your own salvation. Cling to the cross and receive the Sacraments for your salvation. You will get through this and you are not alone!
Yours in Christ,
Timothy
Hi Mr. Flanders.
Firstly, I read many of your articles on OnePeterFive, and they are very insightful.
What is your opinion of the Knox Bible, the Ignatius Bible and the English Standard Version-Catholic Edition?
Also when it comes to the Douay Rheims which publishers (St Benedict Press, Baronius Press etc) have the best edition?
Hi Johann. I’m sorry I never replied. In this video we discuss this: https://youtu.be/AQ12dFuE5Iw
