Before the Divine Office
O Lord open my lips to bless Thy Holy Name, and cleanse my mind from all vain and evil and wondering thoughts. Enlighten my understanding and kindle my affections, that I may fittingly recite this office unto Thee with attention and devotion, so that it may be meet to be heard before the presence of Thy divine majesty. Through Christ our Lord, amen.
O Lord in union with that divine intention wherewith Thou Thyself didst offer Thy prayers to God while upon this earth, I now recite this office unto Thee.
After the Divine Office
To the Holy and Undivided Trinity
To the crucified humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ
To the fruitful vrignity of the Blessed and Glorious Ever Virgin Mary
And to the whole company of saints
Be everlasting praise, honor, power, and glory from every creature. And unto us the remission of all of our sins forever, world without end, amen.
V. Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which gave birth to the Son of the Father eternal.
R. And blessed are the paps which gave suck to Christ the Lord.
And blessed are the paps which gave suck to Christ the Lord.
please explain the meaning of this?
It comes from Luke 11:27:
And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee and the paps that gave thee suck.
